Backend Software Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is expanding its AI-powered financial services platform. Our talent team is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build core systems for their next-generation finance application serving millions of users across multiple markets.

This is a remote position based in Germany. Strong English communication is required for collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for a mobile-first financial application
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, and travel services
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and third-party systems
• Work closely with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing features quickly
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance
• Build auditable systems ready for regulated financial products
• Take ownership of production issues and long-term system reliability

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
• Proven experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Solid understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
• Comfortable collaborating with product, mobile, operations and business teams
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage
• Must be currently based in Germany
• Strong English communication skills required
