About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology services organization in their search for a Senior Java Developer based in Spain. Our client provides digital solutions for public sector organizations across Europe, and you'll join a team of 20+ engineers working on a mission-critical tax administration platform. This system handles the complete lifecycle of tax declarations, processing, calculations, and assessments with integration across multiple external systems.
This is a remote position offering the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale enterprise software that directly impacts public services across an entire European country.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement software components using Java, Spring, and Quarkus frameworks
- Develop and maintain microservices architecture for tax administration systems
- Perform system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
- Conduct thorough unit testing of software components
- Collaborate with distributed teams and project stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery
- Participate in effort estimation and delivery timeline planning
- Provide technical input for product roadmaps and architectural decisions
- Support incident analysis, prioritization, and triage activities
- Optimize and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, and ArgoCD
- Work with PostgreSQL databases, REST integrations, and Kafka messaging
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of professional Java development experience
- Strong expertise with Spring Framework and Quarkus
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS
- Proven experience with REST/SOAP integrations and messaging systems (Kafka, ActiveMQ)
- Strong grasp of software testing principles and best practices
- Confident English communication skills for international collaboration
- Excellent collaboration abilities working with stakeholders and distributed teams
Nice to have:
- Experience with Angular front-end development (latest versions)
- German or Swiss German language proficiency
