Rust Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology client based in Germany who is building cutting-edge real-time voice processing systems. Our talent team is seeking an experienced Rust Engineer to take ownership of critical infrastructure components that power intelligent voice applications across multiple platforms and enterprise integrations.

This is a remote or Berlin-based role with significant technical ownership and architectural decision-making authority. You'll be working on real-time inference systems and core model infrastructure that demands low-latency performance and production reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the inference engine and core components of the model stack written in Rust
• Design system architecture, including service communication patterns, component responsibilities, and extensibility strategies
• Build async Rust systems that handle concurrent workloads and streaming audio processing with minimal latency
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve latency, throughput, and resource utilization
• Write production-ready code with strong testing, debugging capabilities, and operational reliability
• Improve tooling, documentation, and development practices across the engineering organization
• Take complete ownership of projects from initial architectural design through production deployment

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Rust, including deep understanding of ownership, borrowing, composition, and idiomatic design patterns
• Solid experience with async Rust and structuring concurrent applications, including synchronization, cancellation, and backpressure handling
• Proven experience building and working within microservice architectures
• Genuine startup mindset with comfort navigating early-stage codebases and helping establish better structure and documentation
• Drive to actively shape product direction, architect solutions, and take complete project ownership rather than simply processing tickets

Highly Valued Experience:

• Actor systems and using actors to structure concurrent applications
• Real-time systems in embedded environments or cloud contexts
• C/C++ interoperability and generating Rust bindings with bindgen
• CUDA or GPU computing
• Open-source contributions
• Python knowledge
• Lower-level performance engineering, memory debugging, and machine instruction-level optimization
• German language skills (spoken and written)

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: €75,000 – €120,000 plus equity participation
