About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential IoT technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their AI Safety Detection Precision team in the United Kingdom. This is a remote role with a global leader in connected operations technology.
In this position, you'll build core systems that bridge the gap between AI-detected safety events and actionable customer insights. You'll design intelligent review workflows, automate triage decisions, and create feedback loops that improve detection quality over time. This role offers high impact for engineers who enjoy shaping ambiguous problems end-to-end and want to see their work translate into real-world safety outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve core systems that review safety detections and determine which events surface to customers
- Improve detection precision by developing intelligent approaches to identify ambiguous cases, deflect low-value reviews, and automate high-confidence triage
- Work at the intersection of backend systems, data, and AI-driven decisioning to improve product quality and internal review efficiency
- Partner with product, design, and AI/ML teams to convert review outcomes into model feedback loops and higher-quality detections
- Own complex projects end-to-end, from technical design through production rollout, measurement, and iteration
- Use modern AI-assisted engineering workflows to accelerate prototyping, implementation, and debugging while maintaining strong judgment and code quality
- Raise the bar for quality, operability, and engineering clarity across a critical safety platform
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 4+ years of software development experience, primarily in backend or distributed systems
- Experience on product engineering teams shipping customer-facing systems
- Demonstrable focus on customer experience and ability to connect technical decisions to customer value
- AI-first engineering approach with consistent use of modern AI coding and reasoning tools to improve efficiency and delivery while maintaining high standards for correctness and reliability
- Strong programming fundamentals with production system experience in at least one modern language
- Experience designing and building large-scale, high-throughput systems
- Experience operating in data-led, data-backed environments
- Strong cross-team communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with ability to lead technical discussions
Preferred:
- Deep experience developing AI-native engineering workflows across design, implementation, debugging, testing, and automation
- Experience operating or building real-world review systems, human review, AI review, or data annotation workflows
- Experience partnering with AI/ML teams and familiarity with classifier-based systems or model-driven workflows
- Deep experience in backend languages such as Go, Java, or similar
- Experience designing orchestrated pipelines or workflow systems (Temporal or similar frameworks)
- Experience experimenting and iterating quickly against data to drive customer impact
- Data-driven mindset with ability to validate outcomes and use evidence to guide decisions
- Track record of raising team standards through system improvements, mentoring, and cultural contributions
