About This Opportunity
We are representing a leading communications agency in the German market, seeking a Client Service Director for the Public Sector to be based in Dresden. This is a strategic leadership role where you'll take full responsibility for a major, long-term public sector client mandate—overseeing relationship management, account development, and digital delivery at the intersection of consulting, user experience, and technology.
This position requires regular on-site presence with the client, so we are specifically seeking candidates with a professional base in the Rhineland-Palatinate/Mainz region.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders at a major public sector account
- Develop deep understanding of client goals, roadmaps, and challenges; proactively propose solutions rather than waiting for requests
- Identify and develop new service offerings and consulting opportunities (platform evolution, UX, technology, editorial processes, AI)
- Take ownership of revenue, margin, and forecasting for the account
- Provide strategic oversight for large-scale projects while supporting project managers at key milestones and escalations
- Align the core client team and bring in appropriate specialists as needed
- Recognize synergies to scale successful solutions across other contexts
- Maintain strategic perspective on the overall mandate while operational project leadership remains with project managers
What We're Looking For
- Several years of experience in a digital agency, digital consulting, or comparable environment
- Proven experience working with public sector clients and understanding of public administration and government communication
- Track record advising demanding clients on website, CMS, or platform projects of significant scale
- Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial thinking with excellent instinct for client needs
- Confidence working with diverse stakeholders; ability to align teams without direct reporting authority
- Solid technical foundation (TYPO3 knowledge advantageous but not required)
- Professional base or permanent residence in the Rhineland-Palatinate/Mainz region for regular client presence
You don't need to have managed a comparable large account independently yet—this role is well-suited as a next step for experienced Senior Consultants, Account Managers, or Senior Project Managers seeking greater strategic and commercial responsibility.
Language: German language proficiency is essential for this role.
