Move to New Zealand – Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential software services organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Auckland, New Zealand office. Our client is a well-established technology consultancy that builds enterprise-scale custom platforms and maintains long-term relationships with commercial, non-profit, and government clients.

This is an excellent relocation opportunity for talented engineers currently based in Berlin or elsewhere internationally who are interested in moving to New Zealand. The role requires in-office attendance in Auckland (hybrid model), and our client welcomes applications from candidates planning to relocate. Please note that the final interview stage will be conducted in-person in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Define technical solutions through research and collaborative investigation, working closely with the CTO
• Participate in full-stack software design and construction, including code structure, deployment architecture, DevOps, automated testing, and third-party integrations
• Leverage LLM tools extensively in development workflows, with minimal hand-coding expected
• Collaborate with client stakeholders and internal teams to ensure shared understanding of solution design and roadmap delivery
• Drive migration of existing solutions to standardized Rust and TypeScript architectures
• Mentor team members on new technologies and best practices
• Guide proof-of-concept projects through to production deployment

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience as a Software Developer or Engineer, including enterprise-level complexity
• High proficiency in at least one enterprise programming language and ecosystem (e.g., C#.NET or Java/Spring)
• Experience with lower-level languages for application or systems development such as Rust (preferred) or C++
• Strong TypeScript and React (or similar front-end framework) experience
• Hands-on experience deploying to Azure and/or AWS, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure scripting (e.g., Terraform)
• Demonstrable experience designing distributed and asynchronous architectures, particularly microservices and messaging systems
• Active use of LLMs in development workflows and ability to articulate how this improves delivery speed and system safety
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating requirements into technical tasks
• Ability to produce clear design documentation with LLM assistance
• Willingness and eligibility to relocate to Auckland, New Zealand
