Move to New Zealand – Technical Strategist (Solution Architect)

We are representing a confidential software services organization based in Auckland, New Zealand. Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Strategist (Solution Architect) to join their innovative team. This role requires relocation to Auckland and regular in-office attendance under a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

• Author, review, and communicate solution architecture and specifications in collaboration with development and engineering teams
• Champion technical strategy as a key business differentiator, aligning design and implementation of solutions with the broader technical vision
• Build trusted relationships with key client decision-makers, ensuring clear communication of technical requirements and solution designs
• Serve as the primary technical contact for client solutions, facilitating technical prerequisites for delivery and addressing operational improvements
• Develop strategies to ensure quality measures including speed-to-value, security, reliability, maintainability, performance, and functional fit
• Facilitate the evolution of the codebase from C# to Rust, including the ecosystem of tools, practices, and services, with AI-assisted requirements, testing, and code generation
• Lead the design of complex systems with extensive experience and judgment to enable early delivery and continuous improvement
• Apply and reinforce engineering standards for programming, shaping technical solutions built through AI-assisted delivery pipelines

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience developing multi-tier and distributed applications
• Agentic-first approach: very comfortable using AI to rapidly prototype, shape solutions, and direct AI-assisted delivery pipelines across requirements, testing, and code generation—this is central to the role
• Strong hands-on engineering background with formative career experience as a software developer
• Essential experience with React user interfaces and C# services; confidence working with TypeScript, Java, Go, and Rust is highly valued
• Hands-on experience designing solutions on Azure, including building CI/CD pipelines and instrumenting for operations
• Experience with streaming and messaging platforms such as Kafka or NATS is highly desirable
• Proven experience leading the design of complex software applications, preferably for corporate enterprise environments where solutions combine existing services with custom development
• Confident, credible communicator and presenter capable of engaging senior client stakeholders
• Strong ability to bridge technical solutions with business needs and present concepts to varied internal and customer stakeholders
• Experience or demonstrable interest in digital identity, verifiable credentials, open banking, AI agent authorization, or edge/device-based software deployment is particularly valued
• Professional presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
