Field Service Technician (Maintenance) – London, UK (Fixed-Term, Minimum 30 Hours/Week)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail technology client expanding operations throughout the UK. This Field Service Technician role focuses on maintaining hardware installations at customer sites across the London region. You'll work primarily during store opening hours, with occasional overnight and weekend assignments required.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing, installing, replacing, and configuring camera hardware at customer locations in accordance with technical standards
• Conducting routine preventative maintenance checks to identify and address potential issues before they escalate
• Responding promptly to service calls and ensuring customer SLAs are consistently met
• Maintaining accurate service records including work performed, parts used, and time spent using company-provided tools
• Onboarding and scanning products into the system as needed
• Attending installations during night hours when required by project schedules
• Installing equipment onto shelves, ceilings, and other fixtures per installation plans and specifications
• Operating power tools safely and efficiently throughout all installation and maintenance activities
• Adhering strictly to safety protocols to minimize risks during field visits
• Collaborating with team members to ensure timely project completion
• Meeting or exceeding speed and quality KPIs consistently
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members, providing progress updates and flagging challenges

What We're Looking For

This is a fixed-term contract for 6 months at 30 hours per week, with possibility of extension. You must hold a full valid UK driving licence and have reliable transportation, as this is a mobile role covering customer sites throughout the region.

Required qualifications and skills:

• Proven field service technician experience in installation, construction, or related technical field service roles
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently
• Proficiency using power tools and installation equipment safely and effectively
• Physical stamina to work on your feet performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods (up to 9 hours)
• Excellent attention to detail ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications
• Strong time management skills with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Effective communication skills for liaising with supervisors, team members, and customers
• Full valid UK driving licence and reliable personal transportation
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as project schedules require
