Field Service Technician (Maintenance) – Portsmouth, UK (Fixed-Term, Minimum 30 Hours/Week)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential retail technology client in their search for a Field Service Technician to maintain hardware installations across customer sites in the Portsmouth and London region. This is a fixed-term contract position for 6 months, working a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.

This role requires on-the-road work at customer locations during store operating hours, with occasional overnight and weekend shifts. You'll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and servicing camera-based hardware systems installed in retail environments. Physical stamina, technical troubleshooting ability, and proficiency with power tools are essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, install, replace, and configure camera hardware at customer sites in accordance with technical standards
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance checks to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations
• Respond promptly to service calls and ensure customer service level agreements are met
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent
• Perform product onboarding and scanning tasks into system databases
• Attend installations during night hours as required, installing equipment onto shelves, ceilings, and other retail fixtures
• Operate power tools safely and efficiently to complete maintenance and installation tasks
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during site visits
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely task completion
• Maintain high attention to detail to meet quality standards consistently
• Meet or exceed speed and quality Key Performance Indicators
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, providing progress updates and addressing challenges

What We're Looking For

• Proven field service technician experience in installation, construction, or related technical field
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues efficiently
• Proficiency using power tools and installation equipment
• Physical stamina to work on your feet and perform demanding tasks for extended periods (up to 9 hours)
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure work meets quality standards and specifications
• Strong time management skills with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Effective communication skills for liaising with supervisors, team members, and customers
• Full valid UK driving licence (required)
• Reliable transportation to travel to customer sites
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed

Pay
