About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential climate technology organization in their search for a Senior Frontend Engineer. Our client is building innovative software solutions for the sustainability sector, creating digital infrastructure that enables better environmental decision-making across industrial value chains.
This is a unique opportunity to join as the first dedicated frontend engineer and shape the technical direction of the entire frontend architecture. You'll be working at the intersection of cutting-edge web development and AI-powered interfaces, building products that have meaningful climate impact.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the frontend codebase and establish architectural standards that enable the team to scale
- Build and ship agentic user interfaces, including an AI assistant that transforms how customers interact with the platform
- Own the complete product development cycle: discovery, hypothesis formation, shipping, and measurement
- Create and maintain a comprehensive component library with robust documentation
- Prototype and develop new applications from zero to one that unlock customer value
- Mentor and coach other engineers on system architecture, web fundamentals, and best practices
- Partner with the Product Design team to evolve the design system
- Invest in tooling, processes, and abstractions that multiply team output
- Identify technical issues proactively and turn them into actionable proposals
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Proven track record at Senior or Staff level owning impactful product initiatives end-to-end and shaping frontend architecture
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and modern frameworks for scalable web applications (React strongly preferred; Angular, Vue, or Svelte also relevant)
- Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Track record of thriving in fast-moving environments where priorities shift quickly, ideally in startup or scale-up settings
- Experience leveraging AI to accelerate product development
- Fluent English (C1+ level)
- Location: Munich, Germany or remote within Europe
Preferred qualifications:
- Domain knowledge in climate/sustainability, construction technology, manufacturing, or compliance sectors
- Experience building agentic user interfaces
- Strong UI/UX judgment with understanding of best practices and anti-patterns
Tech stack includes: TypeScript, React, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GitHub Actions
