Backend Software Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization expanding its AI-powered financial platform across Asia. Our talent team is seeking experienced backend engineers to build core systems that support a multi-product financial application serving millions of users across insurance, payments, savings, investing, and travel services.

This is a remote role based in Hong Kong. Candidates must already be located in Hong Kong to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for AI-powered financial applications
• Design and implement reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel, and financial services
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and third-party partners
• Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing features efficiently
• Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance
• Build systems that are practical, auditable, and ready for regulated financial products
• Take ownership of production issues and ensure long-term reliability

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging
• Proven experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Solid understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, mobile, operations, and business teams
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or regulated products is strongly preferred
• Strong English communication skills required for collaboration with global teams
• Engineers who build systems that work in production, not just in theory
• Developers who can move quickly while maintaining solid foundations
