Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential organization operating highly secure cloud infrastructure in Germany. As a Sovereign Cloud Engineer, you will support the operation of modern cloud-native and Kubernetes platforms in a 24/7 environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters with Gardener, managing workloads, deployments, Helm charts, and platform components
  • Troubleshooting availability, performance, and deployment issues to ensure secure, scalable, and highly available platforms
  • Operating and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and ArgoCD for automated deployments
  • Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Git-based deployment workflows
  • Developing automation and operational tools using Python, Go, and/or Bash
  • Managing observability environments including Prometheus, Thanos, and OpenTelemetry with alert rules and PromQL
  • Developing and maintaining Grafana dashboards for monitoring and alerting
  • Operating and optimizing logging infrastructure with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Logstash, and Kibana
  • Integrating platforms with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow and PagerDuty via secure APIs
  • Participating in 24/7 on-call and shift rotation, including weekends and public holidays
  • Responding to platform, monitoring, logging, and deployment incidents
  • Performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and supporting Major Incident Management
  • Collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders in Scrum and DevOps environments

What We're Looking For

Critical Requirements – All Must Be Met:

  • Valid citizenship in a country that is a full member of both the European Union and NATO (if holding multiple citizenships, all must meet this requirement)
  • Direct employment by a legal entity registered in Germany with a German employment contract
  • Subject exclusively to German labor law and compliant with German tax, social-security, and employment regulations
  • Current residence in Germany
  • Valid and verifiable Ü2 security clearance in accordance with the German Security Clearance Act (SÜG)

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or Cloud Engineer in highly secure environments
  • Strong experience operating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, ideally with Gardener
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes workloads, deployments, Helm charts, and platform components
  • Experience with Jenkins and ArgoCD for automated CI/CD deployments
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and Git-based deployment workflows
  • Programming or scripting experience with Python, Go, and/or Bash
  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus, PromQL, Thanos, and OpenTelemetry
  • Experience developing and maintaining Grafana dashboards and monitoring/alerting solutions
  • Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Logstash, and Kibana for centralized logging
  • Experience integrating platforms with ServiceNow, PagerDuty, and other enterprise tools via REST APIs
  • Experience with incident management, Root Cause Analysis, and Major Incident Management
  • Experience working in 24/7 operational environments with on-call and shift rotations
  • Strong understanding of platform security, scalability, resilience, and high availability
  • Experience in Scrum and DevOps environments
  • English language proficiency required; German language skills are a plus
