Senior Software Engineer (Storage Virtualization Team)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Storage Virtualization Team in Berlin. Our client is building distributed, fault-tolerant storage systems that power large-scale cloud operations, delivering sub-millisecond latency and millions of IOPS even during hardware failures.

As part of our talent team at Get A Job.ai, we're seeking experienced engineers who want to work on performance-critical infrastructure challenges at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement virtualization components including virtio-blk and virtio-fs, working with QEMU and vhost-user on performance-critical I/O paths
• Build high-throughput networking layers for VM-to-storage transport over TCP and RoCEv2 (RDMA)
• Develop storage system features including replication, consensus protocols, self-healing mechanisms, and data migration
• Debug and optimize complex distributed systems to maintain reliability and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver maintainable, production-ready code

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of C++ (required)
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Basic knowledge of operating system internals including I/O, memory management, and scheduling
• Proven ability to write reliable, maintainable code and debug complex systems
• Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
• Fluency in English
• Authorization to work in Germany
