About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential software organization seeking a Managing Director based in Germany. Our client operates multiple mission-critical software businesses across various verticals, and this role offers the opportunity to lead operational strategy and drive significant growth within their portfolio.

As Managing Director, you will provide critical operational leadership to one or potentially multiple companies within a growing software vertical. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans across all major functions including sales and marketing, R&D, customer service, professional services, and human resources. This role carries full P&L accountability and is ideal for a driven leader ready to make a substantial impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own long-range, annual, and quarterly financial and non-financial goals
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for growth, revenue generation, profitability, and customer care
  • Manage day-to-day operations including sales performance, opportunity management, forecasting, R&D capacity, and customer support
  • Drive revenue growth by working with sales teams to identify new opportunities and execute growth strategies including cross-sell, upsell, and adjacent market entry
  • Develop and implement best-in-class sales operations and infrastructure to enable effective scaling
  • Improve use of CRM tools to increase forecasting capability and provide actionable insights
  • Create and implement KPIs for sales teams to measure performance (CAC/LTV, NRR, MRR trends)
  • Manage key relationships with large accounts
  • Execute effective long-term customer success programs and maintain client support initiatives
  • Monitor Customer Success metrics including satisfaction levels, ticket throughput, and NPS scores
  • Ensure clear product roadmaps are established and adapted to meet market needs
  • Balance R&D investment with maintenance efforts to maximize growth and retention
  • Ensure profitable project delivery by monitoring billable utilization and contribution margins
  • Drive P&L, ROI, EBITDA, and ARR/IRR performance to meet organizational objectives
  • Partner with HR leadership on talent retention, development, and local employment compliance
  • Engage in M&A activities and oversee post-acquisition integration initiatives
  • Attend promotional events including trade shows and panels

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles within the software or technology sector
  • Strong skills in developing and executing strategic business plans across multiple functions
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and market expansion
  • Hands-on approach to managing daily operations and improving operational excellence
  • Proven track record in leading change management initiatives through restructuring, process redesign, or implementation of new ways of working
  • Practical understanding of AI and its application to software products and internal operations, with ability to translate emerging technology into concrete business value
  • Exceptional leadership ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams through periods of transformation
  • Results-oriented with focus on achieving targets and continuous improvement
  • Strong commitment to customer success and care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Innovative, proactive, and adaptable with a collaborative mindset
  • Full professional proficiency in English (required)
  • Legal authorization to work in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, or France
