AI Technical Mentor – Independent Contractor (US Canada, Europe, MENA, APAC)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading online learning organization in the educational technology sector. Our client is building a pool of experienced AI professionals to serve as technical mentors for their artificial intelligence programs on a contract basis.

This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor role open to qualified candidates across APAC, EMEA, Canada, Europe, and the USA. As opportunities arise within specific programs, our talent team will connect matched candidates with project details, timelines, and compensation information.

Responsibilities

As a technical mentor, you will support learners through three primary engagement formats:

Personal 1:1 Sessions:

• Conduct individual video calls to address learner questions on course content and projects
• Review student submissions and areas of difficulty prior to sessions
• Provide personalized guidance to help learners overcome technical challenges

Technical Deep-Dive Sessions:

• Prepare and deliver slide presentations reviewing advanced concepts in greater detail
• Share real-world use cases to broaden learner perspectives
• For project walkthroughs, outline rubric requirements and common problem areas
• Demonstrate evaluation approaches and best practices
• Host Q&A segments following presentations

Group Q&A Sessions:

• Host regular sessions via Slack or video to answer learner questions
• Address queries related to projects and coursework
• Foster a collaborative learning environment

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
• Proficiency in Python and API integration
• Strong understanding of core AI/ML concepts
• Familiarity with Large Language Models and Generative AI tools
• Experience with prompt engineering and model evaluation
• Working knowledge of ML libraries including NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Exposure to AI frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex
• Understanding of RAG, embeddings, and vector databases
• Ability to build or support AI-driven applications and workflows
• Awareness of AI use cases, limitations, and ethical considerations
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end AI/ML or Generative AI projects

Work Authorization:

Applicants in the US must have work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
