Senior UI/UX Engineer- Quantum Computing (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential quantum computing organization developing cutting-edge computing technology in Germany. Our talent team is seeking a Senior UI/UX Engineer to own the complete user experience across customer-facing platforms and internal laboratory systems. This is a design-led position in Siegen where you will define design direction, build production-ready components, and bridge the gap between complex scientific workflows and intuitive interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own design direction for cloud platforms and internal operator interfaces, maintaining coherence across the product family
• Conduct user research by interviewing operators and physicists, observing laboratory workflows, and translating findings into design decisions
• Produce wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for multiple interfaces
• Build and maintain a production-ready design system with tested components in code that serves as the foundation for engineering teams
• Define visualization patterns that make dense telemetry and calibration data accessible and understandable for operators
• Validate shipped interfaces through usability testing and maintain quality standards between design intent and delivered product
• Collaborate with backend and platform engineers on API design, advocating for user perspective throughout the process
• Establish standards for accessibility, usability, and visual consistency while raising design literacy across engineering teams

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in product or interaction design with a portfolio of shipped digital products
• Ability to build designs as reusable production components: proficiency with TypeScript and React, including component testing and documentation (e.g., Storybook)
• Mastery of the complete design toolkit—research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, visual design—with daily Figma proficiency
• Demonstrated experience designing for complex, data-heavy, or expert-user products rather than consumer applications
• Track record of building or substantially owning a design system
• Experience planning and conducting usability testing and implementing findings
• Strong ability to collaborate with domain experts and transform ambiguous problems into clear designs
• Adaptability and quick learning mindset
• Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with real-time data in browsers (WebSockets, streaming telemetry)
• Background with scientific, industrial, or laboratory control software
• Practical application of accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Experience mentoring designers or leading design in cross-functional teams
• Prior experience with quantum computing or other deep-tech domains
