Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential management consulting organization in Köln that is entering an exciting growth phase. As Managing Director, you will take full strategic, operational, and financial responsibility for a specialized institute focused on leadership development, organizational consulting, and talent assessment.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading the institute's overall strategy and business development while reporting directly to the CEO
• Managing and developing a team of consultants, trainers, and coaches, fostering a culture of trust, autonomy, and collaborative excellence
• Deepening existing client relationships and acquiring new accounts to unlock additional growth opportunities
• Evolving the service portfolio strategically, setting direction for new business areas and future-ready business models
• Contributing your expertise to selected projects and strategically important client engagements
• Strengthening the institute's market positioning and serving as a key liaison across the broader organization
• Driving the expansion of digital and hybrid service offerings while developing scalable consulting solutions

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks an entrepreneurial leadership personality with the following qualifications:

• Extensive leadership and management experience with proven responsibility for teams, business units, or comparable organizational entities
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset with solid understanding of business economics and deep market and customer insight
• Background in organizational or management consulting, ideally in leadership development, transformation, change management, talent assessment, or organizational development, with experience leading such projects
• Ability to connect strategic vision with pragmatic implementation, translating ideas into sustainable results
• Track record in expanding client relationships, unlocking new business opportunities, and advancing products and business areas
• Excellent communication and storytelling capabilities with confident presence across diverse audiences and stakeholders, able to inspire others around your vision
• Understanding of or experience with digital business models, hybrid service offerings, and scalable professional services
• Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth environments with strong self-motivation and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel and conduct meetings and projects both online and on-site
• Completed degree (Diplom or Master) in business administration, economics, psychology, or comparable field
