Development Strategy and Support Director

Responsibilities

We are representing a global entertainment technology organization seeking a Development Strategy and Support Director based in London. This senior role involves driving and managing periodic portfolio review processes across a world-class collection of game development studios.

In this position, you will:

• Drive periodic title reviews, traveling onsite to studio locations globally as well as conducting virtual reviews
• Coordinate title review preparations, partnering with studios and liaising with internal groups including user research, publishing, forecasting, and finance
• Foster positive relationships by building trust and ensuring alignment across development teams, executive leadership, and support groups
• Partner with studio leadership to gain a holistic understanding of game and studio goals, providing actionable insights at key moments throughout the development lifecycle
• Collect and share best practices by working with and learning from a portfolio of world-class studios
• Serve as interpreter, diplomat, and advocate for the title review process to increase transparency with all stakeholders
• Proactively suggest and implement improvements to the title development framework process and internal department work systems
• Maintain and continuously advocate for a development framework that values integrity, transparency, and accountability
• Take on special projects beyond core responsibilities as needed by the organization

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a seasoned game development professional with extensive leadership experience. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in internal game production, including bringing a game to launch and serving in a leadership role on a game team
• Strong understanding of the game development lifecycle and industry best practices across multiple game types, genres, platforms, and business models
• Ability to review and analyze development stage deliverables (creative, financial, and business-related) and assess if a wide range of different games are tracking as expected
• Excellent and personable communication skills with a track record of engaging partners across multiple departments and teams, balancing diplomacy, tact, and credibility
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and execute simultaneously across multiple projects with varying stakeholders
• Proficiency in balancing the benefits of a structured process with the flexibility required to match the reality of varying studio needs
• Familiarity working with global teams across different cultures and time zones
• Experience with tools for user research, playtesting, and metrics analysis
• Adaptable, curious team player, capable of working collaboratively or independently as required
