Senior Legal Counsel

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team in Hatfield. Our client operates at the intersection of advanced robotics, cloud computing, and AI, delivering innovative solutions to global retail partners.

This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality legal counsel on complex commercial, procurement, and transactional matters across UK and international operations while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to strategic legal initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior stakeholders up to Executive Director level across the business
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on domestic and cross-border commercial contracts, including technology and hardware procurement, supply and manufacture agreements, cloud service provider appointments, SaaS agreements, and IT licensing
• Provide expert guidance on IP matters including collaboration agreements, licensing arrangements, and cross-licensing
• Advise on data protection agreements and compliance matters
• Support construction, engineering, and product delivery arrangements
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, competition, and antitrust policies throughout negotiations
• Identify and advise on potential disputes, employment, corporate, and financing issues within commercial contracts
• Lead commercial legal aspects of key projects, including corporate and capital markets transactions
• Manage external counsel effectively from delivery, risk, and cost perspectives
• Develop contract templates, know-how materials, and provide training to business teams on legal and regulatory matters
• Contribute to the legal team's strategic development and functional initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications and experience:

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with 4+ years PQE specializing in commercial contracts and transactions (candidates outside this range demonstrating ability to perform the role will be considered)
• Ideally trained with a leading law firm or in-house team with focus on commercial and technology transactions
• Experience advising on commercial and technology law outside the UK
• Proven track record working with senior management at executive level in complex environments
• In-depth experience with domestic and cross-border transactional drafting and negotiation across technology investments, engineering and IT procurement, design, manufacture, supply and licensing
• Strong familiarity with master service agreements, collaboration agreements, SaaS subscription agreements, logistics and distribution agreements, and e-commerce contracts
• Strong academic qualifications
• Pragmatic, customer-focused approach to risk management
• Naturally collaborative with ability to build trusted partnerships at all organizational levels

Preferred additional experience:

• Background working with technology contracts and tech-focused organizations
• In-house experience within fast-paced, commercial environments
• Exposure to corporate, capital markets, and M&A transactions
