About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SAP solutions provider in Germany seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Developer. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse SAP projects, predominantly in the HCM environment, where you'll combine technical development with client consultation. You'll develop clean solutions and advise clients where technology and business requirements intersect.
This position is available in Heidelberg, with remote work options available throughout Germany.
Responsibilities
- Consult with clients on technical implementation of requirements across varied SAP projects, primarily in HCM but also other SAP modules and system landscapes
- Develop custom backend solutions using ABAP OO and modern SAP technologies
- Analyze, design, and implement extensions, reports, services, and interfaces between SAP and other systems
- Deploy appropriate technologies based on project context, including CDS Views, OData, SAP Gateway, RAP, Fiori Elements, or classic extension concepts
- Enhance existing SAP systems by effectively combining legacy structures with modern development approaches
- Provide technical assessment of requirements, solution design, and direct coordination with clients, consultants, and developers
- Perform error analysis, debugging, quality assurance, and maintain clean documentation of your developments
- Work independently on development projects while collaborating with the team for technical exchange and support
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in SAP development with ABAP and classic SAP development technologies including Reports, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs, Enhancements, and interfaces
- Strong knowledge of modern ABAP development in SAP S/4HANA environments, particularly with CDS Views, RAP, and OData
- Experience with Fiori Elements and SAPUI5 is advantageous but not required
- Proficiency with development tools such as ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse
- Understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and sustainable software development
- Analytical and structured working approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent German language skills and good English proficiency
- Some travel readiness (occasional business travel required)
