About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Financial Data Reconciliation Analyst in Canada. Our client operates at the intersection of banking systems, payment rails, and internal platforms, requiring meticulous tracking and reconciliation of financial transactions across multiple partners and systems.

In this senior role, you'll lead the design and implementation of end-to-end reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and protecting customer funds through rigorous data analysis and cross-functional collaboration. You'll work with internal teams and external banking partners to investigate exceptions, build scalable reconciliation frameworks, and mentor other analysts as the organization grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end reconciliations for new and existing products and funds flows, establishing standards for the broader team
  • Develop and maintain data transformations, enrichment logic, and matching rules supporting accurate reconciliation across internal and external systems
  • Monitor and investigate reconciliation exceptions, leading root-cause analysis and coordinating with Product, Engineering, Finance, and banking partners to resolve complex breaks
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems that surface reconciliation risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Define reconciliation requirements and technical specifications for new products, partnering early in the design process with Product, Engineering, Data, and Finance teams
  • Support month-end close and audit readiness by preparing timely reconciliation analyses, summaries, and documentation for Accounting
  • Shape and execute the reconciliation control roadmap, leading cross-functional initiatives as product coverage and operational complexity expand
  • Mentor other analysts through hands-on coaching, helping strengthen their technical and investigative capabilities

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience working with complex transactional and financial data in fintech or financial services, including reconciliation, settlement, payment operations, or accounting
  • Working knowledge of banking payment rails and card networks (ACH, wire transfers, RTP, FedNow, Visa, Mastercard), with understanding of transaction flows, clearing, settlement, returns, and exception handling
  • Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience developing and maintaining data transformation pipelines (e.g., dbt or similar tools)
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven background investigating and resolving complex financial data discrepancies
  • Familiarity with enterprise reconciliation or matching tools (e.g., Blackline) or similar platforms
  • Experience building monitoring or BI dashboards using tools such as Omni, Looker, or Tableau to communicate operational and financial metrics
  • Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving alignment across technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience mentoring or developing other analysts, with genuine interest in helping others grow
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reporting, or financial-control testing
