Managing Principal – Capital Markets

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services consultancy seeking a Managing Principal to lead capital markets engagements across France and internationally. You will play a critical role in identifying and developing new business opportunities with investment banking, asset servicing, and asset management clients.

In this senior leadership position, you will oversee the execution of complex, high-value projects across one or more of the following domains:

• Organizational and operational transformation: Redesign operating models, organizational structures, and functional architectures for capital markets departments (Front, Middle, and Back Office, Risk), deploying optimized processes aligned with market best practices
• Complex program scoping and management: Supervise medium-term plans and large-scale transformation projects from scoping through implementation (system overhauls, regulatory compliance, reorganizations)
• Regulatory project support: Guide clients through compliance with major capital markets regulations (MiFID 2, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, PRIIPS, SFTR, FATCA)
• Finance and risk transformation: Redesign risk control frameworks (market, counterparty, credit, operational), reporting tools and processes, and performance management
• Technology and innovation implementation: Design functional architectures aligned with business strategies, oversee implementation of financial software (Murex, Calypso, SimCorp) and emerging technologies (AI, process automation, big data, blockchain)
• Data strategy and governance: Define and implement data management strategies, addressing data exploitation, privacy, and security challenges

Beyond client delivery, you will also be responsible for:

• Commercial development: Drive business development in capital markets through direct client relationship management, opportunity origination, and converting opportunities into concrete engagements
• Service development and team growth: Develop content and thought leadership, grow internal capital markets capabilities through recruitment and training

What We're Looking For

Experience:

• 12–15 years minimum in capital markets, including at least 7–8 years in consulting
• Proven experience managing complex transformation programs and projects from scoping to delivery
• Track record in business-focused engagements (post-trade operations, finance, risk, compliance) and/or technology implementations

Technical Skills:

• Deep expertise in investment banking strategy, functional architecture, organization, processes, and business challenges
• Mastery of program/project management methodologies (Waterfall and Agile)
• Strong knowledge of financial instruments and risk management principles (market, counterparty, credit)
• Familiarity with capital markets software platforms
• Understanding of emerging technologies, market software packages, and investment banking information systems; experience scoping or delivering IT transformation projects in capital markets is a significant asset

Education and Languages:

• Master's degree (Bac+5) from a top engineering or business school
• Fluency in French and English in professional contexts is required
• Ability to operate effectively in international environments
