Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy technology organization seeking a Software Engineer to own their Linux-based operating system for embedded gateway devices. You will architect the foundation for a secure, stable, and scalable ecosystem that enables device fleet monitoring and updates across critical infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain a secure, modular Linux operating system for embedded gateways
  • Design and implement frameworks and interfaces for fleet-wide device monitoring and over-the-air updates
  • Integrate device identification, authentication, and authorization solutions to ensure maximum security
  • Drive Linux OS initiatives independently from concept through successful implementation
  • Participate in modern software development workflows including version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews

What We're Looking For

  • Deep experience developing Linux operating systems and software architectures
  • Proficiency with Yocto or similar tools for creating and customizing Linux distributions
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Extensive knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies
  • Experience designing secure systems using threat modeling and security best practices
  • Familiarity with modern development workflows: Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews
  • Ability to maintain oversight of complex systems while actively shaping their architecture
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative team orientation
  • Fluent German language skills, written and spoken
