We are representing a leading research institution in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to advance ferroelectric-based ternary computing systems. This position sits at the intersection of emerging memory technologies and energy-efficient computing architectures, addressing critical challenges in modern data-intensive applications.

The research focuses on overcoming the "memory wall" through In-Memory Computing (IMC) paradigms using ferroelectric field-effect transistors. You'll contribute to breakthrough work in circuit design, system-level integration, and hardware/software co-design for applications ranging from edge IoT to neural network inference.

Responsibilities

You will focus on one or more of the following research areas:

• Design standard cell technology libraries based on advanced ferroelectric devices for integration with synthesis flows
• Develop and optimize ternary arithmetic units including multiply-accumulate units, adders, and comparators, targeting area, power, and timing constraints
• Create system-level models of ternary IMC units, enabling design space exploration across heterogeneous architectures
• Investigate hardware/software co-design strategies for mapping convolutional neural networks and signal processing workloads onto ternary computing fabric
• Benchmark energy, performance, and accuracy trade-offs against binary CMOS and binary NVM-based reference implementations
• Contribute to establishing design methodology frameworks for ternary ferroelectric circuits, including EDA tool flows and characterization guidelines
• Coordinate with doctoral students and international research partners
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in microelectronics, computer architecture, or closely related field
• Fluent scientific English for publication and collaboration

Technical Expertise (at least one area):

• Digital circuit design flows and computer architecture with hands-on experience using industrial EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, Synopsys)
• Non-volatile memory devices, preferably ferroelectric materials (FeFET, FeCap) or resistive memories (RRAM, PCM)
• Architecture-level simulation frameworks and hardware/software co-design methodologies
• Deep neural network inference workloads or digital signal processing pipelines in energy-constrained computing contexts
• Proficiency in HDL (Verilog, VHDL, Verilog-A) and scripting languages (Python, Shell) for design automation
