Investment Intern – Early Stage

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading European venture capital firm seeking an Investment Intern to join their Early Stage team in Berlin. Our client manages a multistage investment platform with significant assets under management and a proven track record across consumer, software, deep tech, and AI sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in venture capital while working directly with senior investors on live deal flow.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive deal analysis and due diligence on investment opportunities, including market research, competitive analysis, product evaluation, and financial modeling
• Source promising early-stage companies through proactive outreach and networking; meet with founders to assess team quality and execution capability
• Develop sector expertise in one or two verticals, tracking key trends, players, and emerging investment theses
• Support the full investment process from initial screening through investment committee, including preparation of investment memos, expert calls, cap table analysis, and IC participation
• Monitor portfolio company performance, track KPIs, and identify early signals requiring support or follow-on investment consideration

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Strong analytical and research capabilities with a data-driven, detail-oriented approach
• Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in startups, technology, and business model innovation
• Clear communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and engage confidently with founders and investment professionals
• Financial literacy including comfort with spreadsheets, business metrics, unit economics, and basic accounting principles
• Proficiency with AI tools for research and analysis
• Fluent English required

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience in venture capital, investment banking, or management consulting
• Operating experience at a high-growth startup as a founder or early team member
• Technical background in engineering, product, or data science
