Senior UI/UX Designer (all genders)

About This Role

We are representing a confidential digital services organization based in Berlin that delivers user-centered solutions across regulated sectors. We are seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer (all genders) to join interdisciplinary project teams working on complex applications, portals, and information systems for public sector, healthcare, and energy clients.

In this role, you will own the design process from strategic vision through final implementation, working at the intersection of user research, concept development, and visual execution. You will build and maintain design systems, advise clients on product evolution, and ensure that design decisions are grounded in user needs and business objectives. This position requires fluency in both German and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for client projects, from establishing design language through final UI delivery
• Design accessible, consistent, and technically feasible user flows and interfaces for complex enterprise applications
• Develop and maintain design systems across their full lifecycle, including documentation, contribution guidelines, reviews, and team training
• Provide strategic consulting to clients and project teams on digital product development, combining user insights with market analysis
• Facilitate workshops, present design decisions to non-design stakeholders, and make recommendations that account for both product and communication needs
• Take creative leadership in proposals, pitches, and competitive bids
• Apply AI tools strategically in the design process and share insights with the team
• Provide design reviews, quality assurance, and mentorship to junior team members
• Lead small UX/UI teams within client projects when required

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in UX and UI design for digital products
• Completed degree in Communication Design, Interaction Design, Media Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, or comparable qualification
• Proven experience developing, applying, and evolving design systems with strong quality standards and visual sensibility
• Solid command of UX methods, complex application design, and digital accessibility requirements
• Experience collaborating with development teams in agile environments
• Track record facilitating workshops and presenting design solutions to clients and stakeholders
• Portfolio demonstrating work from problem definition through final interface, including design system experience
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience in regulated industries such as public sector, healthcare, or energy
• Background leading small design teams in client projects
• Art direction experience
• Practical experience with AI-supported design processes, prototyping, or code generation
