Western Governors University (WGU) is seeking a Senior P&T People Experience Generalist in Salt Lake City, Utah, to deliver strategic human resources leadership and foster a thriving employee experience across our organization. Position Summary

As a Senior P&T People Experience Generalist at WGU, you'll be a trusted HR partner responsible for creating meaningful employee experiences while managing payroll and benefits operations with precision and care. Reporting to senior HR leadership, you'll design initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and retention, ensure seamless benefits and payroll administration, and build collaborative relationships with teams across Salt Lake City. This role demands both strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to develop and execute employee experience programs that drive engagement, retention, and workplace culture
• Administer payroll operations, benefits enrollment, and employee relations functions while maintaining compliance and accuracy
• Serve as an HR business partner to departments, advising on talent strategy, organizational design, and people-related challenges
• Own employee communication initiatives including onboarding, development programs, and company-wide employee touchpoints
• Develop and enhance HR policies and processes that support organizational growth and align with company values
• Respond to employee questions and concerns with professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment

Skills & Qualifications

• 5 or more years of professional HR experience, with depth in employee experience, benefits administration, or payroll operations
• Solid working knowledge of HR compliance, employment law, and regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—ability to engage and influence across all organizational levels
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and workplace collaboration tools
• Demonstrated capability to balance competing priorities, work autonomously, and thrive in a team-oriented setting
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred; relevant professional experience accepted
