We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Field Medical Director specializing in Cardiology (Electrophysiology) for a fully remote position available throughout the United States. Responsibilities

• Conduct expert clinical reviews for cardiovascular cases, serving as a specialty-matched reviewer for Electrophysiology and Diagnostic Cardiology cases including Implantable Cardiac Devices, EP studies, Catheter Ablation, Cardiac Catheterizations, Stress Imaging Studies, and Echocardiography
• Review cases that do not initially meet medical necessity guidelines or require subject matter expert evaluation
• Perform peer-to-peer discussions with treating providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with clinical guidelines within regulatory timeframes
• Provide clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals
• Collaborate with leadership, management, and clinical staff to address complex cases and support clinical decision-making
• Serve as a key resource for Initial Clinical Reviewers, offering guidance and expertise to ensure application of best practices
• Utilize medical/clinical review guidelines to ensure consistency in the review process and compliance with URAC and NCQA guidelines
• Document all communications with medical office staff and providers in a timely and accurate manner
• Participate in ongoing training and inter-rater reliability processes
• Assist with research activities related to the utilization management process, interpretation, and guidelines as needed

What We're Looking For

• Medical Degree: MD, DO, or MBBS required
• Licensure: Current, unrestricted clinical license in medicine or required specialty; must obtain and maintain medical licenses in your state of residence and other states as required by business needs
• Board Certification: Active Board Certification in Electrophysiology, OR Active Board Certification in Cardiology with proof of prior board certification in Electrophysiology, OR Active Board Certification in Cardiology with proof of active practice as an Electrophysiologist for 5+ years
• Experience: Minimum of five years of experience practicing Electrophysiology preferred
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills
• Computer proficiency and ability to work with electronic health information systems
• Energetic and curious with a passion for quality and value in healthcare
• No current exclusion or sanction by any state or federal healthcare program; not identified as an excluded person by OIG or GSA
• No history of major disciplinary or legal action by a state medical board
• High-speed internet over 10 Mbps with ability to plug directly into home internet router
