Product Management Analyst – Data Platform & Governance

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential government technology client seeking a Product Management Analyst – Data Platform & Governance to join their team. This is a remote position with a preference for candidates in the DMV area.

Our client needs a product professional with deep hands-on experience in data analytics, governance, and engineering who can drive value from enterprise data platforms through disciplined Product Ownership and Agile delivery. You'll own the backlog, translate complex data needs into actionable user stories, partner closely with engineering teams, and use SQL to validate data and inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Product Ownership & Strategy: Own the product vision and roadmap for data products including datasets, pipelines, quality rules, and dashboards; convert stakeholder requirements into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria; define and track measurable product metrics
• Agile Delivery: Run Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives; partner with Scrum Masters and Technical Leads to remove impediments and maintain predictable delivery
• Data Analysis & SQL: Write and review SQL to validate datasets across environments; collaborate with analysts and data scientists to define KPIs, analytical features, and insight-driven use cases
• Data Governance: Partner with Governance teams to establish stewardship workflows, standards, naming conventions, and certification processes; manage metadata, lineage, and data quality rules using Data Catalog tools; drive onboarding of governed datasets
• Engineering Partnership: Work alongside data engineers on ingestion, transformation, and orchestration patterns; provide clear requirements for schema design, partitioning, and performance optimization
• Stakeholder Engagement: Lead discovery workshops; create data dictionaries, business rules, lineage diagrams, and release notes; present progress to business and leadership

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years as a Product Manager delivering data-centric products (analytics, governance, engineering)
• Strong SQL proficiency
• Proven ability to run Scrum end-to-end and translate complex requirements into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Excellent communication skills with ability to present to clients and collaborate across engineering, governance, and business teams

Preferred:

• Experience with Collibra or another Data Catalog tool (metadata, lineage, stewardship, data quality rules and scorecards)
• Exposure to modern data stacks (AWS/Azure, data lake/warehouse, orchestration tools) and working with data engineers, architects, and analysts
• Background supporting federal, healthcare, or enterprise-scale data programs
