Inpatient Production Auditor

Join R1rcm as an Inpatient Production Auditor in a full-time remote position based in the USA. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of inpatient healthcare billing and documentation across our operations.

Role Overview

As an Inpatient Production Auditor at R1rcm, you'll review and validate inpatient medical records, claims submissions, and billing documentation to ensure they meet regulatory standards, payer requirements, and company quality benchmarks. This is a detail-oriented position where your audit work directly supports both revenue integrity and patient care documentation accuracy. Working remotely, you'll collaborate with clinical and billing teams to identify discrepancies, educate staff on compliance best practices, and implement process improvements.

Your Responsibilities

• Conduct systematic audits of inpatient claims, medical records, and charge master entries for accuracy and compliance
• Identify coding, billing, and documentation gaps that could impact claim denial rates or regulatory standing
• Develop detailed audit reports documenting findings and recommendations for operational teams
• Verify adherence to payer policies, CMS guidelines, and healthcare regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with billing, coding, and clinical staff to remediate identified issues and prevent recurrence
• Track audit metrics and trends to inform quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain current knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and industry best practices

Requirements

• Proven experience in healthcare billing, coding audits, or medical records review
• Strong understanding of inpatient billing processes, DRG logic, and compliance requirements
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze complex documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and data analysis tools
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management
• Certification (AHIMA, AAPC, or equivalent) preferred but not required
