Senior AV Field Engineer (M/W/D) – Stuttgart, Germany

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential automotive technology client in their search for a Senior AV Field Engineer based in Stuttgart, Germany. This is a remote position within Germany that offers the chance to work on cutting-edge autonomous vehicle systems alongside major international automotive manufacturers.

As the critical technical liaison between our client and their OEM and Tier 1 partners, you will provide frontline support, integration expertise, and analysis during the development of next-generation semi-autonomous driving systems. Your work will directly influence designs that reach millions of vehicles worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between the development organization and automotive customers, providing direct technical support on integration projects
• Install and configure evaluation systems on prototype vehicles, including mechanical assembly, electrical connections, network setup, and software deployment
• Debug complex multidisciplinary system failures across hardware and software components
• Perform and supervise test drives on open roads and test tracks to validate AV functionality
• Work on-site at customer facilities including production lines and integration centers
• Collaborate closely with AV development, validation, and algorithm teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Test and validate end-to-end autonomous vehicle functionality and provide detailed technical reports
• Represent the organization in customer demonstrations and technical reviews
• Travel to additional cities and international projects 3-4 times per year

What We're Looking For

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field
• Valid driving license and completion of advanced driving courses for test vehicles
• 2+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles (support engineer, field engineer, or similar)
• Strong Linux experience and proficiency with operating systems
• Hands-on experience with hardware installation including assembly, wiring, and soldering
• Expertise configuring and troubleshooting computers, operating systems, and protocol-based devices
• Experience with testing tools: OBD2, multimeters (Fluke), oscilloscopes, battery analyzers, network sniffers
• Excellent understanding of both hardware and software systems with strong problem-solving skills
• Independent, self-disciplined work style with strong self-management abilities
• Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills
• Fluent German and English (both verbal and written)
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Availability for international travel 3-4 times annually
