Inpatient Rehab Facility Coding Specialist – Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab Facility Coding Specialist to join their remote team. Our client operates rehabilitation facilities across multiple U.S. regions and is building out their centralized coding function with collaborative, skilled professionals.

This is a full-time, fully remote position scheduled Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, generally between 6am-6pm in your time zone. You'll be part of a supportive team environment with comprehensive training to ensure your success.

Responsibilities

• Code IRF records remotely using current ICD coding version within assigned timeframes
• Maintain coding schedule and production targets as assigned
• Collaborate with PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager to assign Impairment Codes for all admissions and newly diagnosed conditions
• Serve as back-up to transmit IRF PAIs timely for Medicare inpatients
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient care information in compliance with HIPAA
• Participate in continuing education, training programs, and mandatory in-services
• Complete annual health, safety, and education requirements
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate care principles across the patient population
• Adhere to attendance and scheduling policies
• Represent the organization professionally in all interactions
• Comply with ethical business practices and organizational standards

What We're Looking For

Required Certifications:

• RHIT or RHIA; OR
• CCA or CCS certification by AHIMA; OR
• CPC or CIC certification by AAPC

Required Experience:

• Minimum two years' current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding
• Direct experience with UB04 and IRF PAI coding

Skills and Competencies:

• Advanced computer knowledge and proficiency with basic office equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Professional telephone communication abilities
• Current licensure/certification maintained
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
