We are representing a confidential AI technology client seeking a Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer for a specialized freelance engagement in Japan. This remote, part-time role focuses on developing and executing advanced web scraping workflows that deliver structured, production-ready datasets for real-world applications.

Our client operates at the intersection of global technical expertise and cutting-edge AI development, requiring professionals who can handle complex data extraction challenges with precision and independence.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute end-to-end data extraction workflows across complex websites, ensuring complete coverage, accuracy, and reliable delivery of structured datasets
• Build and optimize custom scraping solutions alongside platform tools to accelerate data collection, validation, and task execution
• Extract data reliably from dynamic and interactive web sources, adapting techniques to handle JavaScript-rendered content and evolving site architectures
• Implement comprehensive data quality controls through validation checks, cross-source consistency verification, formatting compliance, and systematic review processes
• Scale scraping operations for large-volume datasets using efficient batching and parallelization strategies while maintaining stability against site structure changes
• Monitor extraction pipelines for failures and implement robust error handling and recovery mechanisms

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development
• Expert-level proficiency in Python web scraping libraries (BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or equivalent) for both static and dynamic content extraction
• Proven ability to extract data from complex structures including hierarchical content, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML markup
• Strong background in data cleaning, normalization, and validation with delivery of structured outputs (CSV, JSON, spreadsheet formats)
• Demonstrated experience circumventing anti-bot mechanisms and adapting to dynamic site structures at scale
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) and containerization tools like Docker
• Hands-on experience applying LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenRouter, or comparable tools) to automation workflows
• Upper-intermediate English proficiency (B2 level or above)
