About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization that builds next-generation orchestration platforms for AI environments. They're seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep Rust expertise to join their distributed engineering team remotely in the EU (Germany-based).

This is a high-impact role working on control plane software that powers high-density infrastructure for AI training and inference workloads. The team operates on a T-shaped engineering model—deep expertise in your primary domain plus practical fluency across neighboring systems—enabling effective cross-domain collaboration and code reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade control plane microservices and custom Kubernetes operators in Rust and Go
  • Author functional and non-functional requirements, architectural specifications, system sequence diagrams, and API schemas (gRPC/Protobuf and REST)
  • Develop integration modules for modern network operating systems and DPU hardware platforms
  • Instrument services end-to-end using OpenTelemetry traces and metrics, performing root-cause analysis across distributed systems
  • Participate in rigorous, review-gated pull request workflows with high test coverage via mock-driven testing
  • Contribute to open-source projects as a fundamental part of development work

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in cloud-native platforms or systems programming
  • Primary mastery of Rust (Tokio async runtime, Tonic, Axum, sqlx) and proficiency in Go
  • Strong background in async concurrency models, lock-free patterns, distributed state handling, and mock-driven testing
  • Experience with gRPC/Protobuf contract design (via tonic/prost) and schema evolution
  • Experience writing custom Kubernetes controllers/operators using kube-rs with CRD-driven reconciliation patterns
  • Commitment to test-driven design and writing highly testable code with mock interfaces
  • Proven track record writing architectural specs and engaging in cross-functional design reviews

Highly Desirable:

  • Advanced SQL/PostgreSQL fluency
  • Expertise in datacenter protocols: BGP, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, L3VNI, route targets, and route server design
  • Hands-on experience with SONiC, Cumulus Linux, and NVUE
  • Deep knowledge of NVIDIA DOCA, Host-Based Networking (HBN), BlueField DPU architectures
  • Understanding of InfiniBand fabrics, NVLink/NMX-M partitioning, and RoCEv2
  • Advanced grasp of Linux netlink, network namespaces, routing tables, DHCP/DNS service implementations
  • Familiarity with CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium), OVS, and DPDK
  • Expertise in PXE/iPXE, UEFI, Secure Boot, measured boot, and TPM attestation
  • Proficiency in Redfish, IPMI, and BMC abstractions across heterogeneous hardware
  • Knowledge of boot chains, systemd, initramfs, BIOS configuration
  • Experience with PKI, X.509 certificates, TLS, SPIFFE/SVID, Vault, KMS, Keycloak (OAuth2/JWT), and RBAC
  • Experience with KubeVirt/KVM
  • Demonstrated participation in or maintenance of open-source systems projects
