Senior System Engineer / Infrastructure Specialist (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential hosting provider seeking a Senior System Engineer to lead critical infrastructure operations. Working with your team, you will:

• Take operational responsibility for the entire server landscape, including shared hosting systems (Linux Debian/Apache), virtual servers, and dedicated server environments
• Drive expansion, development, and configuration management of systems using Ansible and modern container technologies (Docker)
• Manage monitoring systems (ICINGA2), implement Proxmox virtualization, and ensure high availability and security of mail server architecture (Postfix/Dovecot)
• Oversee maintenance, security updates, and proactive patch management across all infrastructure
• Structure and organize technical tasks and projects efficiently through the ticketing system (Jira)

What We're Looking For

• Several years of proven professional experience in web hosting environments with deep understanding of highly available hosting architectures
• Strong practical expertise with ICINGA2, Proxmox virtualization, and orchestration/automation using Ansible
• Senior-level expertise in Debian-based Linux distributions and experience with mail server infrastructure setup and operation (Dovecot/Proxmox Mail Gateway)
• Solid foundation in network technologies, routing, and container standards such as Docker
• Routine experience working with Jira for project and task management
• Business-fluent German for internal team communication and good technical English
• High degree of reliability, strong sense of ownership, and flexibility to adapt quickly to new technical challenges
