Global HRIS Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce client in their search for a Global HRIS Specialist based in Bordeaux. This role sits at the intersection of people operations and systems architecture, owning the HR technology ecosystem across 17 countries. You'll report to the Head of HRIS and serve as the technical expert for Workday and the broader HR tool stack.

Responsibilities

• Configure, test, and document Workday modules including HCM, Absence, Talent, Advanced Compensation, Help, and Journeys—translating business requirements from People stakeholders into system solutions
• Manage the Workday release cycle: evaluate each update, test impacts on the existing environment, and convert new platform features into concrete business improvements
• Troubleshoot workflows and system issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing structural fixes rather than temporary workarounds
• Take ownership of HR tools currently outside HRIS governance (ATS, expense management, and others): document current configurations, understand team usage patterns, and bring them under unified governance
• Serve as the primary point of contact for these systems—handling configuration, user support, vendor relationships, and roadmap planning
• Audit the existing tool stack to identify redundancies, gaps, and underperforming systems; build business cases for retention, replacement, or retirement decisions
• Collaborate with internal technology teams on integration architecture between Workday and other platforms (payroll, ATS, IT provisioning, Finance)
• Manage external vendor relationships to ensure projects deliver on time and within scope, challenging partners when necessary
• Prototype automation and AI solutions for People processes, including Workday Extend and AI agents
• Enable end users through documentation, training materials, and intuitive system design

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3–5 years of hands-on Workday configuration experience—this is a technical build role, not a functional HR position
• Demonstrated proficiency with Workday HCM, reporting (calculated fields, advanced reports, matrix reports), and security configuration
• End-to-end administration experience with at least one additional HR system (ATS, expense management, LMS, engagement platform)—covering configuration, user management, and vendor coordination
• Ability to translate business needs into system requirements and diplomatically push back when requests don't align with best practices
• Strong organizational discipline with particular attention to data accuracy and configuration documentation in multi-country environments
• Comfort inheriting scope from others—bringing the necessary mapping work, diplomacy, and patience
• Skill in prioritizing competing requests from multiple People sub-teams and communicating trade-offs
• Fluency in English (working language)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience leading tool migrations or vendor consolidation projects
• Background in fast-growing international organizations
• French language proficiency
