About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential online pharmacy client seeking an experienced Accuracy Checking Dispenser (ACD) for their Winnersh location. This is a unique opportunity to step away from traditional retail pharmacy and focus entirely on what matters most: accuracy, quality, and patient safety.

Our client operates a modern, technology-enabled dispensing environment where you won't be interrupted by walk-in customers, OTC sales, or retail counter duties. Instead, you'll be the trusted professional responsible for ensuring every medication that leaves the pharmacy is exactly right—the first time, every time.

Responsibilities

As an Accuracy Checking Dispenser, you will serve as the final safeguard in the dispensing process:

• Perform comprehensive final accuracy checks on all dispensed prescriptions before supply to patients
• Verify correct patient, medication, strength, formulation, quantity, and directions for every prescription
• Ensure all labelling is accurate, complete, and compliant with legal and regulatory standards
• Confirm medicines are assembled according to SOPs, company processes, and legal requirements
• Identify and escalate discrepancies, near misses, and potential errors immediately
• Maintain clear, accurate, and auditable documentation of all checks completed
• Exercise professional judgment and escalate concerns beyond your scope to the Responsible Pharmacist
• Handle controlled drugs, unlicensed medicines, and high-risk medications in accordance with legislation
• Conduct expiry date checks, batch verification, and packaging integrity assessments
• Collaborate with dispensers, pharmacists, and the wider team while maintaining checking independence
• Contribute to quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
• Support and mentor colleagues to embed a culture of accountability and attention to detail

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Required: Accredited Accuracy Checking Dispenser (ACD) qualification recognised for pharmacy dispensing practice
• Significant experience in a pharmacy environment with a proven track record conducting final accuracy checks
• Detailed understanding of dispensing processes and critical control points that prevent medication errors
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy legislation, SOPs, governance requirements, and patient safety principles
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while recognising limits of competence
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain concentration and accuracy under pressure
• Confidence to challenge discrepancies and halt supply when patient safety is at risk
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Proactive mindset with ownership of issues through to resolution
• Genuine commitment to patient outcomes and understanding the human impact of your work

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturday availability (overtime or shift basis)
