About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential enterprise AI organization in their search for an Infrastructure Engineer to join their London hub. Our client is a high-growth platform company serving Fortune 500 enterprises, and they need someone who can ensure their systems remain available, performant, and reliable at scale.
This is a hybrid position based in London, reporting to the director of engineering. You'll be at the heart of maintaining mission-critical infrastructure that powers AI workflows for hundreds of enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure across AWS (preferred), GCP, and Azure using Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform
- Move fluidly between SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Platform work, bringing deep focus to substantial initiatives over quarters rather than thrashing between tasks weekly
- Automate operational tasks and infrastructure management using Python or Go, treating manual on-call work as a defect to be eliminated rather than a permanent fixture
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, and root-cause analyses—tracing failures to underlying problems and preventing recurrence through architectural improvements
- Define and uphold SLOs and error budgets, carrying the on-call pager and owning reliability outcomes end-to-end
- Integrate AI agents into daily workflows for investigating incidents, drafting infrastructure code, writing runbooks, and reviewing pull requests
- Balance immediate tactical needs with 6-12 month platform strategy, shaping multi-year investments in observability, cost optimization, and reliability
- Collaborate across product, security, and engineering teams, providing expert guidance on system design for reliability and performance from conception through launch
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or similar experience building and operating large-scale, high-availability production systems at a high-growth product company
- Production experience running containerized environments (real clusters, not labs) with Helm and Terraform or Pulumi on at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go for automation and tooling development
- Active daily use of AI-assisted tooling in your workflow—this is a hard requirement. You should already be using agentic tools for infrastructure work and have strong opinions on where these tools excel and where they fall short
- Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, reason from first principles rather than best practices, and make clear tradeoff decisions in business terms
- Experience with monitoring and logging stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK equivalents
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
- Track record of end-to-end ownership of at least one 0-to-1 infrastructure build with measurable outcomes
Bonus qualifications:
- Software engineering background with experience designing, building, and shipping production code (services, libraries, internal frameworks) in Python, Go, or comparable languages
- Ability to move between infrastructure automation and feature engineering seamlessly
