Journals Indexing Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential academic publishing organization seeking a Journals Indexing Specialist to join their global research integrity team in India. This role sits at the intersection of data analytics, publishing operations, and quality assurance—maintaining relationships with major indexing services while ensuring content meets evolving industry standards.

You'll independently manage end-to-end indexing processes, prepare applications to services like Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE, and Scopus, and use data-driven insights to support editorial and production teams. This position requires deep expertise in bibliometrics, citation analysis, and scholarly publishing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complete lifecycle of journal indexing applications and content coverage by coordinating with production, research integrity, editorial, and legal teams
• Develop and maintain rigorous processes for indexing applications that enhance journal visibility
• Create actionable analytics for editorial and research integrity teams to ensure adherence to indexer requirements
• Serve as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for indexing queries across the organization
• Provide training and educational resources for internal teams and external editors
• Communicate with indexing services and external stakeholders on behalf of the organization
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement cross-functional processes
• Maintain workflows, documentation, and meetings to ensure processes are well-organized and understood
• Stay current on changing indexing requirements, trends, and the broader research publishing landscape

What We're Looking For

• Extensive knowledge of bibliometrics and citation data analysis in research journals
• Proficiency in data analytics and data visualization using standard software packages
• In-depth experience in scholarly publishing and indexing services, with working knowledge of research integrity principles and production processes
• Demonstrated experience searching and working with databases such as Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE, and Scopus, including understanding their requirements for new journals
• Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships with external partners
• Strong communication skills to translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Research experience in bibliometrics or scientometrics is highly desirable
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Continuous improvement mindset
