We are representing a leading UK-based fintech organization that is seeking a Backend Engineer III. This role offers the flexibility of UK-wide remote work with optional collaboration in London. Responsibilities

• Design and build backend systems for a consumer-facing banking platform used by millions daily
• Work with distributed systems architecture including microservices, message queues, and container orchestration
• Write production code in strongly-typed languages (the client primarily uses Go)
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to solve complex technical challenges in areas like payments, infrastructure, security, and customer operations
• Make data-informed decisions with a product mindset focused on customer outcomes
• Build resilient, scalable software systems that meet the demands of a regulated financial services environment
• Participate in system design discussions and technical decision-making

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience working on backend systems for technology products
• Proficiency with strongly-typed languages such as Go, Java, C, Scala, or similar
• Interest in and experience with distributed systems architecture
• Product mindset with focus on customer outcomes rather than just technical implementation
• Comfort working in environments with ambiguity and evolving requirements
• Desire to work on products that impact everyday users
• Experience level aligning with Engineer III/L40 progression (strong mid to senior-level contributor)

Technical environment includes: Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy Proxy, AWS, GCP, and React for internal tooling. Prior knowledge of these specific technologies is not required—comprehensive onboarding is provided.

Location: UK remote with flexibility. Occasional travel to London may be requested (expenses covered). Must be eligible to work in the UK or qualify for visa sponsorship.

Work arrangement: Flexible hours with core collaboration times. Part-time schedules considered. Trust-based approach to managing your time effectively.

Compensation

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £85,000 - £110,000 base salary, plus performance-based incentive awards and comprehensive benefits including £1,000 annual learning budget.

Visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates. Relocation support may be provided for the right candidate.
