Senior Medicaid & Medicare Reimbursement Consultant

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare system seeking a Senior Medicaid & Medicare Reimbursement Consultant to join their reimbursement team. This role is critical to ensuring proper governmental reimbursement across multiple facilities and requires deep expertise in Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis.

This position offers supervisory responsibilities, strategic project leadership, and the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert across complex reimbursement functions in a large healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for multiple healthcare entities
• Ensure appropriate governmental reimbursement is received and proactively calculate impacts of new regulatory changes
• Conduct variance analysis of third-party liability accounts and provide supporting documentation for inquiries
• Supervise Reimbursement Analyst daily work schedules, including teaching reimbursement fundamentals, reviewing work, and setting priorities
• Support senior leadership with special analyses throughout the year related to revenue cycle, charge analysis, regulatory and financial reporting
• Serve as subject matter expert in S-10, Wage Index, Bad Debts, Medicare Audits, Disproportionate Share, Indirect Medical Education, Graduate Medical Education, and state governmental programs
• Lead, advise, and consult on various reimbursement financial projects while delegating to direct reports and maintaining strategic oversight
• Manage audits and work with legal vendors on Medicare Appeals
• Stay current with all federal and state regulatory requirements affecting Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement

What We're Looking For

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Finance
• Extensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting and reimbursement
• Subject matter expertise in CMS cost reporting, DSH, Uncompensated Care, Bad Debt reporting, IME/GME, Medicare Wage Index, S-10 reporting, and state programs
• Knowledge of Acute Care Hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, Sole Community Hospitals, and Rural Health Clinics
• Understanding of specialty reimbursement areas including psych, inpatient rehabilitation, Home Health, and Hospice
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and clinical/financial patient management systems
• Demonstrated ability in financial analysis and cost reporting
• Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and planning skills
• Ability to function effectively in a matrixed environment and communicate with all management levels
• Supervisory and leadership experience with the ability to delegate while maintaining connection to details and strategic objectives
