The Opportunity

Turner & Townsend is a global professional services firm dedicated to delivering integrated solutions in the energy and natural resources sector. As a Transmission Estimator, you'll play a vital role in our consulting practice, preparing comprehensive cost analyses and project estimates that inform critical decisions for major transmission and utility infrastructure initiatives. Working remotely, you'll collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop accurate estimates that drive project planning and budget forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for transmission projects, including line construction, substation development, and related infrastructure
• Analyse construction specifications, engineering drawings, and project scope documents to develop accurate cost projections
• Research labour rates, material costs, and equipment pricing to ensure competitive and realistic estimates
• Create and present comprehensive estimating reports for internal teams and client stakeholders
• Collaborate with project managers and senior estimators to refine methodologies and improve estimate accuracy
• Maintain detailed records and documentation to support audit trails and cost tracking
• Support proposal development and bid preparation across the transmission and utility division

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a transmission estimator, quantity surveyor, or in a related estimating role within utilities or energy infrastructure
• Strong proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of transmission line construction, substations, and electrical utility projects
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to work with complex technical documents
• Professional communication skills and the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences
• Degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent professional experience in the energy sector
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment whilst meeting project deadlines
