Civil Project Engineer III – Land Development

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer III – Land Development to join our engineering team in Ashburn, VA. As a skilled land development professional, you'll shape the infrastructure and communities of the future through thoughtful project delivery and technical excellence.

Role Overview

As a Civil Project Engineer III focused on land development, you'll take ownership of complex projects from conception through delivery. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll manage design advancement, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, navigate regulatory requirements, and ensure projects meet technical standards, budget, and schedule goals. Your expertise in civil engineering and land development will be essential to driving success across a dynamic portfolio of work.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead site analysis, conceptual planning, and design development for land development projects
• Coordinate technical reviews, design alternatives, and engineering studies with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage permitting, environmental, and regulatory compliance activities with local and state agencies
• Oversee construction administration, field coordination, and quality assurance on active projects
• Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to clients and internal teams
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering department

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure
• 5+ years of experience in land development, site engineering, or civil project delivery
• Proficiency with CAD software, GIS tools, and project management platforms
• Strong understanding of grading, stormwater management, utilities, and entitlements
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
