Care Assistant

Position Summary

As a Care Assistant with Home Instead in Livingston, you will deliver person-centred care that respects dignity, independence, and individual preferences. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling whilst supporting vulnerable adults with personal care, daily living activities, and meaningful companionship in the comfort of their own homes. You'll work as an integral part of our care team, guided by our core values of dignity, respect, and compassionate support.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting support
• Help clients with mobility, transfers, and physical support as needed
• Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration
• Support light housekeeping tasks such as tidying, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment
• Offer companionship, conversation, and emotional support to enhance wellbeing
• Help with medication reminders and report any health or welfare concerns to management
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of care provided and client observations
• Respond professionally to client needs whilst maintaining effective communication with the wider care team

What You Bring

• A genuine passion for supporting older people with compassion and respect
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build trusting relationships
• Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work around client scheduling needs
• Physical capability to assist with personal care and mobility support safely
• Willingness to undertake training, including Safeguarding and Health & Safety induction
• A commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Previous care experience is desirable but full training is provided to motivated candidates
