About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer lifestyle organization in the Freiburg im Breisgau area that is entering an exciting phase of growth and professionalization. Our talent team has been exclusively retained to identify a Chief Operating & Growth Officer who will take ownership of value-creating functions and shape the next stage of development.

This is a true entrepreneurial leadership role with significant equity participation, working directly alongside ownership to scale a product-driven business with strong direct-to-consumer channels.

Responsibilities

You will assume responsibility for the core value-creation areas of the business:

• Growth & Direct-to-Consumer: Lead and optimize the e-commerce domain including performance marketing, CRM, and online revenue. Drive KPI-based, data-driven decisions with clear impact on revenue and profitability (CAC, ROAS/MER, LTV, conversion, AOV, contribution margin).
• B2B & Partner Business: Develop and expand distribution and partner sales channels.
• Operations: Own fulfillment, logistics, returns management, and operational scalability as the business grows.
• Structure & Steering: Build processes and KPI-based management systems; lead and develop cross-functional teams.

This role is deliberately designed for expansion—as the organization professionalizes and grows, your scope of responsibility will increase accordingly.

What We're Looking For

Our client values entrepreneurial mindset over a specific CV pattern. The critical requirement across all profiles: you must come from an environment with a physical product and owned brand—not pure retail, distribution, or marketplace platforms.

We are intentionally seeking several profile types:

• Entrepreneurs/Founders: Who have built, managed, and profitably scaled their own product brand and are ready for a larger stage.
• Leaders from larger organizations: With P&L responsibility for a product and brand division, seeking genuine entrepreneurial work in a fast-moving, decision-oriented environment without corporate layers.
• High-potential consultants: With focus areas in e-commerce, consumer products, or start-up/scale-up environments, or with initial leadership/execution responsibility in relevant functions (growth, operations, e-commerce) at a physical product company, for whom this represents the next career step forward.

Essential qualifications:

• Multi-year track record of P&L and growth responsibility with ownership mentality and results orientation
• Experience at a company with owned physical products; commercial instincts for product, portfolio, and drivers like margin, full-price sell-through, and repeat purchase rate
• Experience with brands or business units in relevant scale, typically in the €20–50 million revenue range
• Ability to lead and challenge e-commerce, performance marketing, and CRM teams using KPIs—depth is welcome, but judgment is essential
• Structured, prioritizing work style with hands-on execution ability even with limited resources
• Fluent German and English required
