Software Backend Engineer – Senior / Confirmed (Paris or Remote France)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading fintech organization in France that is transforming the payment landscape across Europe. Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of their core engineering squads in Paris or remotely from anywhere in France.

As part of our talent team at Get A Job.ai, we're looking for an experienced backend engineer who wants to work on production payment infrastructure at significant scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop APIs and backend components that power payment processing for thousands of merchants and millions of end users across Europe
• Write maintainable, production-grade code that meets the highest standards required for a regulated financial services environment processing substantial transaction volumes
• Collaborate with Product teams and technical leadership to evolve system architecture in line with growing business requirements
• Lead incident response and performance troubleshooting efforts, driving long-term improvements to platform resilience and scalability
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy for backend systems

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend engineering on large-scale systems (excluding internships and apprenticeships)
• Strong proficiency in Python and relational databases (PostgreSQL experience preferred)
• Fluency in French with solid English communication skills
• Methodical approach with strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Comfort working in cross-functional, collaborative environments

Nice to have:

• Experience building payment or financial solutions in regulated environments
• Track record of influencing product and technical decisions at scale
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, Redis, Pub/Sub, and Datadog
