SEO & GEO Content Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce client in the collegiate custom apparel space. They are the largest provider in their category across the United States, yet they're consistently losing organic search traffic to less established competitors who have prioritized SEO and content strategy.

Our client is looking for a writer first—someone who can craft genuinely engaging content for a college-age audience—who also deeply understands what it takes to rank on search engines and appear in AI-generated answers. This is not a role for keyword stuffing or generic AI-generated content. This is about building brand authority through value-driven content that students actually want to read.

You'll own the blog, site content strategy, and backlink development. You'll write posts that college students click on and stay engaged with, optimize pages that drive revenue, and build the link profile that signals authority to Google.

Responsibilities

Blog & Content Creation

• Plan, write, and publish a consistent schedule of blog posts targeting high-value keywords in the collegiate and custom apparel space
• Develop content that serves real search intent: useful guides, listicles, comparison pieces, and how-to content that earns engagement
• Maintain a content calendar aligned with seasonal moments: fall recruitment, spring rush, homecoming, formals, philanthropy events, graduation
• Write in a voice that's smart, warm, and slightly irreverent—not corporate or generic

On-Page SEO & Site Content

• Write and optimize meta titles, meta descriptions, headers, and body copy across the site
• Identify internal linking opportunities to improve crawlability and distribute page authority
• Collaborate with the tech team to ensure new content launches are SEO-compliant

Backlink Building

• Develop and execute a backlink strategy targeting relevant publications: Greek life media, college newspapers, campus life blogs, lifestyle publications, and higher-ed marketplaces
• Write and pitch guest posts, data-driven stories, and resource articles that earn organic placements
• Build relationships with bloggers, journalists, and site owners in adjacent spaces covering collegiate life and campus culture
• Track link profile growth using SEO tools and report on domain authority and referring domain acquisition

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)

• Develop strategy for appearing in AI-generated search answers on platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Bing Copilot
• Identify question formats and informational queries where our client should be the cited source
• Create content specifically designed to earn AI citations
• Monitor how the brand is referenced in AI answer engines and iterate based on findings
• Stay current on generative search evolution and share relevant insights

Performance & Reporting

• Track organic traffic, keyword rankings, backlink acquisition, and content engagement
• Run regular content audits to identify optimization opportunities and consolidate thin content
• Develop frameworks for measuring content ROI

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in content marketing, SEO writing, or a closely related field
• A portfolio of published work demonstrating strong writing quality and search performance
• Hands-on experience with SEO tools: Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, or equivalent
• Demonstrated understanding of on-page SEO best practices: keyword research, search intent mapping, header structure, internal linking, meta optimization
• Familiarity with GEO/AI search optimization is a strong plus
• Ability to write in multiple formats: long-form guides, short blog posts, product descriptions, landing page copy
• You love writing and can produce content that's engaging, accurate, and optimized simultaneously
• You understand search intent at a deep level and know how to satisfy it while ranking
• You're as comfortable in SEO tools as you are in a Google Doc—data tells you what to write, instincts tell you how
• You've been paying attention to how AI search is changing content strategy
• You're self-directed and can own a content calendar without micromanagement
• You're curious about the collegiate audience and willing to stay current on what college students are searching for
• Comfort working independently in a fast-moving environment

Location & Schedule: Remote/Work from Home in the Philippines. To coordinate across time zones, availability for meetings and communication from approximately 5 PM to 1 AM PHT, Monday to Friday, is required.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $700 - $1,000 USD base + $40 USD night-shift allowance per month

Additional Benefits: Our client offers a 2-month paid sabbatical to eligible employees in recognition of long-term contributions.
