About the Role

As Director of Institutional Giving at SBP, you'll drive the organization's institutional fundraising program, building deep partnerships with foundations, corporations, and institutional funders committed to helping vulnerable communities recover and build resilience. Your leadership will ensure sustained funding for programs that prepare communities for disaster, strengthen their capacity to withstand and recover from catastrophic events, and support long-term rebuilding for homeowners most in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional giving strategy aligned with SBP's organizational priorities and growth goals
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit funding from foundations, corporate giving programs, and major institutional donors
  • Build and maintain a robust portfolio of institutional relationships with regular engagement and stewardship activities
  • Create compelling proposals, grant applications, and funding narratives that communicate SBP's impact and program outcomes
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and program teams to establish fundraising targets and track progress toward institutional giving goals
  • Conduct prospect research and donor intelligence to identify and prioritize funding opportunities
  • Partner with program staff to document outcomes, capture impact stories, and demonstrate program value to current and prospective funders

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in institutional giving, major gifts, or foundation relations
  • Demonstrated success securing significant funding commitments from institutional sources
  • Strong knowledge of the foundation funding landscape and corporate giving programs
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication abilities with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling funding narratives
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple donor relationships simultaneously
  • Genuine passion for SBP's mission and commitment to advancing equity in disaster recovery
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in nonprofit leadership or fundraising
