The Opportunity

Rocket Software is seeking an experienced legal leader to serve as Product Counsel Senior Director. This role positions you at the intersection of law, technology, and product strategy, where you'll shape how Rocket approaches legal risk and compliance across its entire product ecosystem. You'll report directly to senior leadership, advising cross-functional teams on complex legal matters and emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on responsible AI practices. This is an on-site position based in Salem, Marion County, offering a full-time opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a software company's legal posture.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel to product, engineering, and services teams throughout the product development lifecycle
• Lead Rocket's responsible AI legal program, ensuring compliance and ethical governance as AI capabilities expand
• Identify and mitigate legal risk before products reach market, collaborating closely with stakeholders
• Advise on intellectual property strategy, licensing, data privacy, and regulatory compliance for product initiatives
• Build and mentor a legal team focused on product excellence and proactive risk management
• Stay current on technology law and competitive landscape to inform Rocket's strategic direction

Skills & Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active membership in the bar
• 10+ years of legal experience, with significant background in product counsel or technology law
• Demonstrated expertise in AI governance, data privacy, or regulatory compliance
• Proven ability to lead legal teams and influence product strategy at the executive level
• Strong communication skills: translating complex legal concepts for product and engineering audiences
• Experience with SaaS, software development, or technology companies preferred
• Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change in high-growth tech environments
