About This Position

This is a funded postdoctoral research opportunity within Carnegie Mellon University's Barth Laboratory. You'll conduct independent and collaborative research at the intersection of molecular neuroscience, surgical techniques, and computational biology. This full-time position offers the resources and intellectual environment needed to drive meaningful discoveries in a dynamic laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and produce viral vectors (AAV) for neural delivery applications
• Conduct precision stereotaxic brain injections and related small animal surgical procedures
• Perform molecular biology techniques to support research objectives
• Generate, process, and manipulate complex datasets using bioinformatic approaches
• Conduct quantitative image analysis using specialized software and computational methods
• Collaborate with laboratory team members and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant efforts

Who We're Looking For

• Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology and hands-on experience with AAV design and production
• Proficiency in small animal surgery, including stereotaxic brain injection techniques
• Strong background in bioinformatics and computational data analysis
• Ability to work with large datasets and apply statistical methods to research questions
• Familiarity with image analysis software and quantitative microscopy techniques
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a research environment
